Morgan Buyers Come A Long Way To Take Delivery Of Plus Four

COPAKE, NY – It’s roughly 1,350 miles from Little Rock, AR to Copake, NY but that’s how far Jim and Dena Peckham traveled to take delivery this week of the dark blue 2025 Morgan Plus Four sports car that they’d been waiting at least two years to receive.

RIDE-CT spotted their shiny new Morgan with only 59 miles on the odometer parked outside the Copake General Store on Wednesday morning and went searching for the owner. Once located, Jim Peckman said that he and his wife had flown in the day before from their home in Little Rock. The dealer had picked them up at the airport.

Their plan was to drive the two-seat roadster back to Arkansas, and the car already had an Arkansas license plate affixed to the rear. The Plus Four is powered by a 2.0-liter, inline four-cylinder BMW motor and has a top speed of 149 miles per hour.

The Morgan Motor Company only ships about 350 cars to the United States every year from its factory in Malvern Link, Worcestershire, England. According to Morgan’s website, the brand only has 10 dealerships across the United States. Three of them are in Florida and there’s only one in the Northeast. It’s called Morgan Motors of New England, although it’s located outside of New England in Copake.

Morgan models are not cheap because they are handcrafted. An outdated price list reveals that the Plus Four had a base price of $84,995 in January 2024, but the total cost of any new model will likely be much higher when paint choice, wheels, upholstery and other items are factored in.

A classic solid color will add $4,827.29, while the selection of 15″ polished wire wheels will add $5,135.42. The colored Union Jack bonnet badges that the Peckhams’s car displays are listed as costing $114.79.

The Plus Four the Peckhams ordered came with automatic transmission, which will make their drive easier. As beautiful as the Morgan was to look at, RIDE-CT couldn’t help but notice that it already had some dust marks on it as it sat parked in front of the general store. It will no doubt get dirtier on the way home.

Morgan of New England’s website reports that a fully refundable $3,000 deposit can secure a person a “built slot” for a new Plus Four. Just prepare to be patient.
