Now’s Your Chance To Own a Fire Engine from Town of Montville

MONTVILLE, CT – Ever had the desire to own a fire engine? A 34-year-old fire engine with fewer than 39,000 miles on its odometer is being offered in an online auction by the Town of Montville. The 1991 KME Spartan Engine is described as being “perfect for a construction business, landscaping company or volunteer fire department.”

The auction via Municibid ends on Friday. The current high bid as of midday Monday was $5,000 and the reserve price had not yet been met. (Editor’s note: The auction ended with the reserve not being met.)

The fire engine is powered by a 350-horsepower diesel engine and it has an automatic transmission. It has a 1,000-gallon water tank and a 1,500-gallon-per-minute top mount pump. It seats six and has updated LED emergency and scene lights.

Proceeds from the auction will go to the town “for road maintenance, setting up local events for residents, community programs, public safety initiatives, and more,” according to a press release.

The auction began on Oct. 3 and bidding will close at 1 :30 p.m. on Oct. 17. The fire truck is being sold “As-Is, Where Is.” Payment must be made through certified check or money order. The winning bidder must retrieve the truck within 10 business days.
