Lake Compounce Seeks Classic Cars For Anniversary Event(s)

BRISTOL, CT – Lake Compounce amusement park in Bristol celebrates 180 years operation in 2026 and is seeking some classic cars to help spice up some events in August.

“I don’t have specific models in mind, but I think we want to target 1940s-50s models. I would particularly be interested in at least one convertible or open top, if they would be ok with letting our mascot, Kyle Crocodile, ride in the car,” wrote Madison Burnes-Baker, the park’s events and entertainment manager, in an email to RIDE-CT.

While plans and dates for an event (or events) are still fluid, Lake Compounce is looking at staging an Americana-themed parade involving marching bands from area schools and wants to sprinkle in some old cars.

“I think the time commitment would be 2-3 hours day-of and we would provide two complementary tickets into the park to the owner of each car for participating in the event,” Burnes-Baker wrote.  Right now, dates between Aug. 15 and 23 are being considered.

“If we did multiple dates, we could absolutely have different individuals on each event day. They wouldn’t need to commit to every parade,” she wrote.

At least one old photo supplied by Lake Compounce reveals that classic cars have provided an attraction in the past. For more information or to express interest, classic car owners should email Madison Burnes-Baker at madison.baker@lakecompounce.com.
