At Least 20 Car Shows Make This Weekend Busiest of Year

Classic car owners and classic car lovers will have at least 20 shows across Connecticut to choose from to either enter or attend this weekend. Rain last weekend forced the one-week postponement of at least four shows. That has helped to pack the calendar on Saturday and Sunday (May 16-17). This weekend is shaping up to be the busiest weekend of the entire car show season.

There will be first-time shows in North Haven, Riverton and Waterbury and a long-running one in Wallingford.

At least four shows will be held at high schools and there will be shows dedicated to brands, such as Jeep and Volkswagen.

There will be shows from the shoreline to the Massachusetts state line; from Walnut Beach in Milford to a hilltop in Norfolk.

No other weekend over the coming months is as busy as this coming one, although June 6-7 has at least 14 shows scheduled.

“At least” is the operative designation for the number of shows on any given day as dates for new and returning car shows are continuing to be announced. RIDE-CT’s 2026 Car Show Calendar, where this weekend’s shows may be found, has more than 210 shows listed so far. More are being added on an almost daily basis.

Two trends seem already seem apparent on the car show scene. More shows are adding motorcycles to the mix. And many are holding the line on entry fees. Many are charging only $10 for show cars, although more seem to be charging $20 as well.

Looking ahead to Memorial Day Weekend, only a dozen shows are planned. Or, more accurately, at least a dozen shows are planned for May 23-25. The number could change in the days ahead. Only nine shows are scheduled for the weekend of May 30-31 – at least as of today.
