Father’s Day Will Be Packed With Car Shows Across CT

Want proof that classic car aficionados are mostly men? Just compare the number of car shows that get scheduled on Father’s Day versus Mother’s Day. There are at least a dozen car shows set for this Sunday (June 21) across the state, while there were none – at least none that RIDE-CT was aware of – held on Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10.

Yes, Father’s Day honors dear ol’ dad and what better way to make his day than to let him enjoy his classic car hobby.

One show staked out Father’s Day years ago. The Terryville Bug-A-Fair Volkswagen Car Show at the Terryville Fairgrounds in Terryville, CT will hold its 33rd annual gathering this weekend. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It hard to contemplate just many air-cooled Beetles have attended over the decades.

There are three shows at craft breweries on Father’s Day, including the fourth annual Pups & Pints Car Show at the Norbrook Farm Brewery in Colebrook, CT, which RIDE-CT helps sponsor. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s almost as much fun petting all the pooches as it is spotting unique models.

Add in the shows set for Saturday (June 20) and the days leading up to Father’s Day and the show total rises to 19, at least as far as RIDE-CT knows. By the website’s record-keeping, this will be the second busiest weekend of the car show season.
