Smaller EX30 Is New, Less Expensive EV From Volvo

The package is smaller but the product is still premium. Volvo today revealed a new, small EV model called the EX30 that will have a starting price of $34,950. It’s the brand’s smallest electric model to date and is the fourth EV model from Volvo.

Reservations are now being taken in the United States with a $500 deposit for the entry-level model, which will be built in China. It won’t be until fall that buyers will be able to choose options, such as interior and exterior colors, and deliveries won’t begin until summer 2024.

The EX30 will have a 275-mile range and a fast charging time (10 to 80 percent) of 26.5 minutes. Acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour is expected to be 3.4 seconds.

Exterior colors will be Moss Yellow, Crystal White, Onyx Black, Cloud Blue, and Vapour Grey. Interior colors will be Breeze, Mist, Pine and Indigo.

In announcing the model, Volvo said the EX30 “uses renewable and recycled materials in new ways,” and reported “around 25 percent of all aluminum and 17 percent of all steel and plastics used in the EX3 are recycled.”

Additionally, “around 30 percent of decor parts use recycled plastic.”
