An Electric Muscle Car? 2024 Dodge Charger Will Be World’s First

AUBURN HILLS, MI – Dodge calls it “the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car.” It’s also the world’s first all-electric muscle car. How does 670 horsepower and the potential to do 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds sound?

It’s the all-wheel-drive 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona that the brand revealed on Tuesday, promising that it will cover the quarter-mile in an estimated 11.5 seconds. It will come with a “patent-pending Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, delivering Hellcat levels of sound intensity.”

The new battery-powered Charger will come in two versions. The 496 horsepower Charger Daytona R/T is expected to deliver range of more than 317 miles. The higher power Charger Daytona Scat Pack will only cover 260 miles before charging is needed. Both models will be capable of recharging from 20 to 80 percent in just over 27 minutes using a Level 3 fast charger.

Production of the two-door Chargers coupes is expected to begin in mid-2024 at Dodge’s Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. Four-door versions will arrive in 2025, including a four-door, gas-powered Charger SIXPACK S.O. model.

The electric Chargers will come with high-performance Brembo brakes and 20-inch wheels, “the biggest tire package used to date by Dodge.”

Several drive modes will determine how the Charger models operate – Auto, Eco, Sport, Wet/Snow and Track and Drag. There will also be Drag and Drift modes.

There’s no word on how much the new Chargers will cost, but there are a lot more details on Dodge’s website.
