Chevrolet Puts Country Spin On An Oldie But Goodie Ad Tune

It’s an unforgettable advertising tune from the 1950s. It was sung by Dinah Shore who invited everyone to “See the U.S.A. in Your Chevrolet.” Now, with the U.S. celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, the automaker has revived the song with rising star Brooke Lee giving it a country spin.

A new ad featuring Lee belting the ditty from the bed of a Silverado ZR2 pickup plunked atop Utah’s Castleton Tower premiered over the weekend. “We kept the lyrics the same, we kept the melody the same,” said Kaitlyn Newman, Chevy advertising manager, in a story posted by GM News.

The original song with Shore debuted on her TV variety show in 1951. It became synonymous with the Chevy brand and an earworm at the time. Like then, the new ad is an invitation to travel. “The call to action of the whole campaign is to go on adventures, whether it’s in their own backyard or somewhere further away,” Newman said.

Here’s the new Chevrolet ad:

It’s certainly not surprising that Chevrolet has decided to revisit its past. The question is why the brand waited so long to do it?
